An Asian-inspired
art-glass table lamp crafted of gorgeous
Hawaiian
curly Koa and African Wenge.
A
Above
and below views of both sides and in different light.
The
base is Hawaiian curly Koa with African Wenge trim. The end posts
are
hand-rubbed black lacquer over African Mahogany. The cross and
long
supports are Wenge, as are the upper and lower glass frames.
The
top "Torii Gate" is Hawaiian Koa trimmed with Wenge.
Last
but not least, the insert in the base is bamboo!
BBelow
is a view of what goes on inside one of these lamps. The electric
wire
actually
snakes up through the black-lacquered post, then out through
the
cross-brace
and across inside the long support and finally up to the
lamp
socket. Much meticulous hand-work goes into each of these
pieces,
and no two are ever the same.
A
This
lamp uses a single 14-watt compact fluorescent bulb and casts
a warm
friendly glow all around. All supporting pieces that do not show
in the
finished lamp are made of eucalyptus for its strength and
stability.
The power cords in this series of lamps exit the base
in such
a way that the lamp can be placed in any direction
with
the cord coming out the back side.
These pieces are
individually hand made with extraordinary attention to detail.
Each is unique,
completely original and all patterns for each are destroyed when
the project is complete.
There are some similarities between some of the lamps, but there
are no two alike.
Each is signed by the artist and is accompanied by a signed Certificate
of Authenticity.
